Never too late

It is never too late to be what you might have been – George Eliot

Have you wondered what is the single stand-out difference between successful people and unsuccessful ones? They “act” on their ideas. It does not matter if they are 35 years old or even 65!!

There is no such thing as the right time. There is only doing and not doing.

We want to do so many things but we put them off saying ‘It’s probably too late for that’. You want to start a side hustle but dismiss that saying – I’m pushing 40 now, who am I kidding?. You want to publish an ebook or start an online course – but convince yourself that it is too late for this sh*t anyway.

The fear of being judged is probably the biggest reason in my opinion why many people never take a shot at their dreams. What could be the worst thing that can happen? You fail!

Isn’t that better than doing nothing? At least you tried and failed pursuing your dream! You know you gave your best and unfortunately, it did not work out. But the experience will help you immensely for future projects.

The Social Trap

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now – Chinese proverb

We are living in the age of instant gratification and anything that takes a bit longer is dismissed. This might work with materialistic things, but the things that truly matter – relationships, career take time to build.

Do not fall into the trap of figuring out everything at the right age. There is no set rule for you to start a career at 25 or a business at 30. I am sure you would have heard the famous story of Colonel Sanders who started the KFC restaurant at the age of 60.  Steve Carrell was 43 when he landed his role in the critically acclaimed sitcom “The Office”.

There is a term used for people who achieve things after 40 – late bloomers. There are a lot of famous people who started late and achieved success. The important thing is to have the self-belief and the courage to go after your dreams.

Going against the normal is scary and often difficult. But what’s scarier is to live a life of regret. Do not shy away from pursuing something just because people say it’s too late. There is one thing that history has proven time & again – it’s never too late to do the right thing.

Extraordinary things require extraordinary efforts.
